DRS arrives — but only for the four knockout games
What changes from Qualifier 1, and why the league stage goes without.

The Decision Review System is coming to the Nepal Premier League in Season 3 — for the playoffs only.
Which matches?
Reports from Nepal say DRS will be used in the four knockout games: Qualifier 1 (Nov 17), the Eliminator (Nov 18), Qualifier 2 (Nov 19) and the Final (Nov 21). The 28 league matches are played without it.
Why only the knockouts?
The full technology package is expensive. The Cricket Association of Nepal tested systems from two providers before deciding, and chose to use it where the stakes are highest. Umpiring calls were a recurring talking point in the first two seasons, which added pressure to bring reviews in.
What fans will see
In the playoffs, each side can challenge on-field decisions such as LBW and caught-behind calls, with the TV umpire using ball-tracking and edge detection. In the league stage, the on-field call stands.
Details of the review allowance per innings will be confirmed by the organisers; we will update this explainer when they are.
